  1. Marianne Maier, Austria, born 1942, demonstrates her amazing physicality in the shot put competition in the heptathlon, 70-74 year old age group. Maier dominated the events in the women’s 70-74 year old age category, winning 5 gold medals and 1 silver.
  2. Wolfgang Reuter, Germany, born 1929, clears 3.31m to gain gold in the men’s long jump event, 85-89 year old age group. Reuter also earned gold in the 100m dash, crossing the line in 17.43secs (the world record for this age group is 15.97secs).
  3. Nora Kutti, Estonia, born 1922 and the oldest woman competing in Izmir, relaxes during the javelin event where she threw a new European record for her age group of 12.60m.
  4. Antanas Cerniauskas, Lithuania, born 1934, throws for gold in a competitive field in the men’s hammer throw, 80-84 year old age group. He threw 39.25m.
