At the end of April I branched out! I photographed skydivers. SkydiversOver60 (SOS’s) and JumpersOver70 (JOS) to be precise. They were trying to create new GB records. The SOS’s – all 20 of them – were hoping to jump from 2 planes in tight formation and link up in free-fall. They were thwarted by the cloudy skies which precluded the planes from being able to fly close enough. They were still awesome. Watching them prepare, have a preliminary attempt and prepare some more was incredible. It was a whole new world opening up for me. See my gallery and check them out!
My London exhibition Senior Athletes: Growing Old Competitively opens at The View Tube on May 14th, running till July 5th 2013. What a venue! It’s the closest spot in London to the Olympic site and my pictures will face the big stadium.
On Sunday June 9th at 3.00pm we are having ‘The Grand Challenge’. Two top senior athletes, Dorothy McLennan (78) and Alan Carter (76) have issued a challenge to take on members of the public in a 60m race. Get in touch if you’d like to take part! Otherwise come and watch – and be prepared to change your view of what it means to be ‘elderly’. Dorothy and Alan run like youngsters.
